Keira Knightley was born on March 22nd, 1985, to parents Will Knightley and Sharman MacDonald. There has been some controversy about her age, as many people believe she was born in 1983. However, recent sources suggest that she was actually born in 1985, making her 18 years old, and just 12 when she filmed Star Wars!

Keira has acted in television in movies since 1994, but she got her first big break when she was cast in Star Wars Episode I as Queen Amidala's decoy, Sabé. She was chosen to play Sabé because of her remarkable resemblance to actress Natalie Portman (and of course, because she's a great actress ;). However, to this day, many fans still think that Natalie Portman played both roles.

After her role in Star Wars, Keira acted in TV series such as Oliver Twist and Princess of Thieves, and the movie The Hole. In 2002, she starred in Bend it Like Beckham, a hit British comedy (coming to theaters in North American soon). She also starred as the tragic heroine Lara in a brand new tv version of the classic Dr. Zhivago.

Now in 2003, she is staring alongside actors Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean, a movie which is sure to make her name over here in North America. Keira is also set to star in the upcoming Love Actually and King Arthur.

Keira sure has come a long way since the days her role in Star Wars, when most people thought she was Natalie Portman. With these big film roles, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of Keira in the future!
